Improved efficiency for the steam and condensate system
The majority of the energy consumed in the paper-making process is in the form of steam used for drying. The optimized operation of the steam and condensate system therefore helps to reduce energy and/or increase productivity.
In order to optimize the system, Voith specialists first perform an analysis of the actual setup to locate problems and look for potential improvements. The objective is to collect relevant data and drawings to clearly determine the customer’s needs. Based on this information, Voith prepares a quote for the on-site inspection and evaluation of the drying process.
As part of the on-site inspection the steam and condensate system is measured, taking the drying technology in the hood into account. This involves measuring the cylinder surface temperatures, pocket moisture, temperature differences and mass flow rates at heat exchangers. The collection of relevant production data such as dry content, system pressures and siphon diameters complete the picture.

Energy efficiency check of the dryer section, including secondary consumers.
Module 2: Capacity increase:
Capacity check for various operating states (basis weight, speed increases, grade change…) and process simulation with BATRO drying simulation. Optimization of web drying and heat curve.
A custom report is prepared based on the inspection modules selected by the customer. This report comprises the recording and evaluation of measurement results, solution proposals and recommendations, each prioritized according to cost effectiveness.
