Increase in energy - and machine efficiency

Optimal hood operation with regard to supply and exhaust air quantities, the hood dew point, pocket moisture, configuration of the heat exchanger, control of air quantity, heat recovery and the mechanical condition of the units has a decisive impact on machine operation (e.g., moisture cross profile) and the energy efficiency of the paper machine.

The hood supply and exhaust air system is measured to obtain a data basis for the ventilation check up. Therefore, the supply air, the humidity content, the temperature level, the pressure level and the energy content before and after the heat exchangers is determined. Measurements from the hood (e.g., pocket moisture, vacuums at the stabilizers, intake and outlet dry content) complete the picture and facilitate an assement of the current operation point.

A visual inspection of the units present (heat exchangers, ducts, ventilators, etc.) highlights maintenance deficiencies.

Based on this data, various suggestions for optimization or improvement are made. Simulation tools are also available for this. Checking the capacities against the design data can be the first step in a measurement program (part of the audit).
