Checking and optimizing all reel functions

Winding errors, reel change breaks and time-consuming threading on the reel are expensive scenarios. A smooth winding process ensures high production levels and saves time.
When there are problems with the reel section the customer can rely on Voith’s extensive technological experience of the winding process. Voith’s expertise covers both paper engineering and mechanical and control system know-how.

The tasks that can be performed on site or issues that can be investigated are as follows:

• Reel turn-up problems
• Inadequate drive control, optimization of control sequences
• Mechanical settings Alignment check and correction
• Measurement of winding tightness
• Vibration problems Vibration analysis

Modern, specialized measuring equipment such as high-speed cameras, multi-channel recorders for pressures and signals, and winding tightness measuring devices are used.
Using the winder-specific paper characteristics (modulus of elasticity, friction coefficient) calculations about the winding process are performed as required.
In addition, Voith has a Pilot reel at the PTC Heidenheim, in which problems can be reproduced or new kinds of reel turn-up systems tested with the customer’s paper grades.
