A basis for decision-making in the maze of regulations
The abundance of European and national regulations in force within the European Economic Area (EEA) for occupational safety and its application is a big challenge for many machine operators.
Legal bases in Europe (manufacturers’ regulations): Machinery Directive 98/37/EC (as of Dec. 29, 2009: 2006/42/EC), Work Equipment Directive: 98/655/EEC.
Legal bases of the individual countries (operators’ regulations): e.g., in Germany: Ordinance on Industrial Safety and Health, Switzerland: SUVA, Austria: Work Equipment Regulation, France: APAVE (altogether ca. 27 national directives in the EC).
In order to facilitate correct application of the local safety regulations for the operators, Voith offers targeted safety analyses. They serve as a basis for decisions about further measures.
The results of the machine safety audit are a decisive criterion for conversion measures and maintaining both machine and operational safety.
1. Analyses of existing systems: maintenance of minimum safety
requirements, status reports on machines and systems, hazard
assessment of the systems and surroundings according to defined
machine safety standards.
2. Analyses with system modifications: assessment beforehand of
whether the planned modification makes a new certification necessary.
Consideration of specific interfaces for partial machine replacement /
system modifications, assessment and interpretation of control
categories, process optimization with adaptation of safety technology
with modifications of control and automation.
3. Analyses with new systems: CE-marking support, conformity inspection.
