Optimization targets

The approach flow system has a decisive influence on machine operation and paper quality

As a rule, distortions from a non-optimized approach flow system due to, e.g., deposits, pulsations, stock consistency variations, inefficient cleaning or screening interfere with the PM operation and cause runability and quality problems.
Obsolete machine and system concepts can also generate unnecessary fiber loss or be inefficient in terms of their energy use.
The on-site investigation for optimization of the approach flow system is done by an experienced specialist.

Within the framework of analysis, the following work is carried out, depending on the customer’s requirements:
• Inspection of the system to assess the problem
• Evaluation of the system and comparison with best
  avaliable technology
• Discussion with the operating personnel of possible
  problems regarding machine and process
• Definition of future objectives and necessary adaptations
• Drawing up a stock and water balance for the corresponding
  system area
• Drawing up a list with recommendations for necessary
detailed investigations in the future by Voith or third parties
• Possible additional investigations from the area of
M&D Approach flow system stability for an additional price

Customer benefits
• Maintenance and technological deficits are highlighted
• Presentation of results in a manner specific to the product and the
customer’s requirements. Optimization measures often lead to
improvements that can have an ROI of much less than 2 years (e.g.,
due to energy or raw material savings or improved PM runnability)
