In paper production, the drying process plays an important role.
In many packaging paper machines, the capacity of the dryer section is a limiting factor for increase in production. An extension of the dryer section involves long downtimes and high investment and modification cost. Due to limited space conditions, a machine extension is often not possible.
In new machines, increasing specific outputs result in higher dryer section lengths and thus larger paper machine halls.
The process
The BoostDryer features a steam-heated dryer cylinder and a pressure hood that encloses a major portion of the cylinder.
The web runs directly over the dryer cylinder and is pressed against it by the pressure hood.
A special clothing and a steel belt on top separate the web from the pressure hood.
Customer benefit:
- Increased machine speed and output, without extending the dryer section
- Minimal rebuild required
- No machine extension
- Relocating of size press and reel not necessary for increased capacity
- New machines: Reduced machine length, while achieving the same production capacity
- Improved paper strength or reduced starch application or saving of fibers
- Reduced starch application, resulting in higher dry contents after the starch application unit and less water evaporation in the after-dryer section
- Saving of raw material, resulting in less water evaporation in the pre-dryer section
- Improved surface properties of paper
- Steam used as heating medium
Currently, limited product release for BoostDryer.
